The What, How, Why and Where of Narayan Seva Sansthan

Narayan Seva Sansthan

On 23rd October 1985, a milestone was marked in the history of humanity, when a seed of brotherhood was sown by a common man, Mr. Kailash Manav, which made him special, by starting to work for the welfare of specially-abled.

This was the day when he decided to dedicate himself in service of the differently-abled and economically-challenged, uplifting their lives on physical, social and economic grounds. It was the day when Narayan Seva Sansthan, one of the best NGO in India, came into being. And until today, for more than three decades, it is continuing to contribute to the differently-abled and economically-challenged section of the society.

Ensconced within the beautiful Aravali mountain ranges, this Sansthan is situated in Southern Rajasthan, in the city of Lakes Udaipur. The Sansthan has two main campuses in Udaipur, with 480 branches in India and 49 branches abroad.

With its headquarters in Udaipur, sector-4 campus, the Sansthan is running two hospitals with a total capacity of 1100 beds. The campuses are equipped with hostels, schools, vocational training centers, and many other facilities. All these facilities have a single aim of physical, social and economic upliftment of the differently-abled and economically-disadvantaged, without charging them even a single penny.

Narayan Seva Sansthan works towards several causes, helping the underprivileged section of the society live a life of normalcy and happiness.

Here is a brief introduction of some of the different causes:
  • Corrective Surgeries – Narayan Seva Sansthan has helped many people with disfigured limbs, caused due to polio, accident or any other bodily ailment, through corrective surgeries. Until now, the Sansthan has operated more than 380000 people and conducts 80-90 surgeries regularly. Approximately 300 people are diagnosed daily at the hospitals of the Sansthan and are given a date for the operation.
  • Providing Helping Aids - The Sansthan also has an in-house department for making calipers and artificial limbs. Specially trained people, hired by the Sansthan, measure the patients and make custom-made calipers and artificial limbs. Also, other helping aids such as wheelchairs are provided by the Sansthan free of cost.
  • Vocational Training for Differently-Abled - The Sansthan also runs vocational training centers to equip the differently-abled with certain skills that empower them to earn a livelihood on their own. Until now computer training, mobile repairing, and sewing is taught in the Sansthan, with hi-tech technology equipment.
  • Orphan Hostel - Seva Parmo Dharma Trust is a subsidiary of Narayan Seva Sansthan, which is an orphanage where the orphans live as a family of the Sansthan.
  • Smart Class Education for Under Privileged - Narayan Children Academy (NCA) is another initiative of the Sansthan where modern hi-tech means are used to educate children from the economically-disadvantaged sections of the society. This school is equipped with smart classes and specially-trained teachers to provide world-class education.
  • Distribution and Measurement Camp - The Sansthan also organizes many measurement and distribution camps in several parts of the country very often. Differently-abled are welcomed in these camps, measured and are provided with required helping aids.
  • Food and other Necessities to Economically-Challenged - Sansthan has been serving two square meals and tea, for several years. Many, including the patients, their attendants, and others are served daily.
  • Mass Wedding for the Differently-abled - Narayan Seva Sansthan conducts a mass wedding for the differently-abled twice every year. Officially called Divyang Vivah, until now 33 editions of this grand ceremony have been successfully organized by the Sansthan.
Narayan Seva Sansthan is able extend its hands to the differently-abled only with the well-wishing contribution of its donors, contributors, and helpers. Over the years many donations have come from around the world. Many people have found the Sansthan as a reliable medium to make their desires of philanthropy come to reality.

Conclusion
This was just a glimpse of the inside-out of what Narayan Sansthan is all about. Donors and patients are two pillars on which the Sansthan stands, and is working on several fronts to uplift differently-abled on economic, social and physical grounds.
